Melody Epperson (Denver, CO)

Melody’s artwork focuses on her experience as a woman, both in society and within her own skin. Her creative process is central to her artwork and began with her life in education. It starts when she becomes curious about a concept. Then she reflects on or investigates the idea, and finally, she takes a creative action. The concept of the artwork, and the discovery of its meaning, are often more important than the media itself. Because of that she often switches media to better express her meaning. Melody began her career as a teacher where she taught art, music, and theater. The process of investigation stems from her philosophy of teaching, which was inquiry-based, holistic and experiential. She studied art at Metro State University, Leslie University, Goddard College, and Columbia College. Learning is a lifelong pursuit. Her personal philosophy is Be Curious, Never Stop Growing, and Leave the World a Better Place.
